Scarring is one of the major and probably ugly effects of acne. This occurs when an acne lesion which is healing leaves a skin defect or discoloration that lasts for more than a year.
An individual can avoid acne scarring naturally by preventing the growth of lesions caused by the said skin problem. In order for him to do so, he should understand how to lessen the risk of having acne and what treatments are appropriate for this skin condition. He must keep in mind though that two soaps must be used separately for the body and for the face. Milder cleansers should be used in washing the facial region. In addition, he should always have a clean handkerchief during the day to wipe off excess oils and dirt from his face. If in case he experiences an acne breakout, he can use certain commercial products preferably after consulting a dermatologist.
However, if he has done the procedures mentioned above but he still experiences acne scarring, he can acquire certain treatments for it. The first kind of acne scarring treatment is a dermal filler which is injected into the scars to smoothen the outer skin layer. Dermal fillers typically contain human collagen and fat. The second type is known as punch excision, which involves a surgical procedure used primarily to mend deeper scars. In this process, a doctor applies local anesthesia on the patient, cuts out the scar using a metallic instrument, and stitches the edges of the skin together.
