Acne is a skin problem which occurs when natural oils in the body clog the skin pores. In this process, infections usually develop as bacteria, dead skin, and hardened oils become trapped in the pores. One of the most common skin areas affected by acne is the back.
Back acne or bacne, as some may call it?, is more commonly experienced by men. Nonetheless, women may also have this skin problem with the same amount of pain and discomfort. The primary cause of back acne is trapped oils on the back that are triggered by excessive sweating. A person who often does heavy physical activities and then leaves his sweat to dry is at risk of getting back acne.
Moving on, an individual who already has back acne can treat it using a few relatively easy procedures. Back acne treatment starts with good personal hygiene. He should routinely take a bath after doing something that causes him to sweat a lot. However, he has to take a few minutes of rest before stepping into the shower. Warm water and mild soap must be used in cleansing the back area as well as other parts of the body. Afterwards, he can use acne treatment products like exfoliants, toners, and medicated lotions. Aside from these, he can also apply an acne-fighting ointment that contains ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, but before doing so, he must make sure that his back is thoroughly dried.
Lastly, if the above procedures do not cause any significant results after several weeks, the person needs to consult a dermatologist. This skin specialist can prescribe more powerful treatments such as antibiotics for persistent back acne.
